An established global event technology and live production business is looking for an experienced Audio Systems Designer to join its UK Technical Delivery team.
This is a specialist design role focused on developing technically robust audio systems for temporary events and live productions. Working alongside Project Managers, technical teams and onsite delivery teams, you’ll take event requirements and translate them into detailed system designs, documentation and equipment specifications.
The role is predominantly office-based in Uxbridge, with occasional site visits and planned onsite work to stay connected to live event delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Design end-to-end audio systems for temporary events and live productions
- Evaluate technical briefs and develop safe, practical and commercially appropriate solutions
- Produce detailed drawings, schematics, access plans, bills of materials and scopes of work
- Create technical documentation using Vectorworks, ConnectCAD and other CAD/design platforms
- Design systems incorporating audio, RF, networking, control systems and signal distribution
- Adapt designs around project budgets, available inventory and equipment allocation
- Work closely with Project Managers, technical teams, sales and venue teams throughout the design process
- Identify the technical skills and competencies required for successful onsite delivery
- Help maintain and improve audio system design standards, documentation and technical processes
- Stay up to date with developments in professional audio technology, products and system design
- Work with suppliers and manufacturers to assess equipment performance, availability and suitability
- Support equipment selection and future technology planning
- Review completed projects to identify improvements for future system designs
- Undertake advanced manufacturer and industry training
- Provide technical expertise to onsite teams during event delivery
- Troubleshoot system and design challenges and recommend appropriate changes
- Liaise with third-party suppliers, manufacturers and internal technical departments
- Maintain practical technician knowledge through planned onsite involvement
You’ll have strong knowledge across:
- End-to-end professional audio systems
- RF systems and frequency coordination
- Audio networking and signal distribution
- Control systems
- Cabling and infrastructure requirements
- Temporary event delivery standards
- Vectorworks and ConnectCAD
- CAD-based technical documentation
This is an opportunity to move into a specialist systems design position within a major international live events organisation, working on technically complex productions while remaining connected to onsite delivery.
You’ll have access to advanced technology, manufacturer training and a clearly defined career path within a large global technical operation.
